From 2003 to 2006, Rémi studied History of Art at the universities in Toulouse and Lyon respectively, where he obtained his Batchelor’s degree. He then left for Italy, finding employment as an assistant to the curator for Jean-Jacques Aillagon (ex-minister of culture) at Palazzo Grassi in Venice.

On his return to France, he entered the Regional Conservatory in Paris and began to sing in its newly formed choir, “Jeune Choeur de Paris”, directed by Laurence Equillbey. In this training programme he sang at “La Cité de la Musique” in Paris, the Opera house in Rouen, the auditorium at the Louvre, the festival of Besançon, “La Péniche-Opera” in Paris, Belfort town hall, the theatre in Poitiers, the “Opéra Comique” in Paris and the “Espace Malraux” in Chambéry among many others. He collaborated with orchestras such as “L’Orchestre des Champs Elysées”, “Les Nouveaux Caractères” and “L’Orchestre Lamoureux”. He has been directed by the likes of Philippe Herreweghe, Jean-Claude Vannier, Laurence Equilbey, Geoffrey Jourdain etc… in numerous productions such as “Symphonie Fantastique” by Berlioz, The Blue Forest by Aubert, The story of Melody Nelson by Gainsbourg, Te Deum by Mendelssohn, Telemann’s Motets, Lélio by Berlioz, “L’Enfant Assassin des Mouches” by Vannier and Gainsbourg, Howell’s Requiem, as well as many contemporary pieces by Williams, Pecou, Lancino, Aperghis and Mantovani.

Rémi gained a “Prix de Chant Lyrique” from the Conservatory in Aix-En-Provence in 2011 where he began to study with Monique Zanetti in her specialised Baroque music programme for singers. Here he began to sing as a “Haute-Contre” or French Baroque Tenor which allowed him to collaborate with groups such as “Les Talents Lyriques” directed by Christophe Rousset, “Les Musiciens du Louvre” directed by Marc Minkowski and the Paris based vocal group “Aedes” directed by Mathieu Romano.

He has appeared in solo roles in several recitals and at the opera : Corydon (Acis and Galatea by Handal) in the production directed by Martin Gester in Salzburg (Vienna) and Poznan (Poland), Obadiah (Elijah, Mendelssohn) at the Saint-Sauveur cathedral in Aix-en-Provence directed by Carlos Gomez-Orellana and as Valère and Ramon (Les Indes Galantes, Rameau), Franz (Roesli Von Santis) for the studio opera in Geneva directed by Jean-Marie Curti and Count Almaviva (Barber of Seville) for the “Festival des Collines” in Manosque, France. Alongside his brother, the mandolinist Vincent Beer-Demander, he has given various recitals across the region and they have most notably collaborated with the composer Vladimir Cosma.

Since 2013 he has been a permanent member of the vocal ensemble Calisto, a group based in Marseille which specialises in vocal polyphony. In 2019 he also became a member of “Les Voix Animées” a group based in Toulon, conducted by Luc Coudou.
