Dimitri Tchesnokov
Dimitri TCHESNOKOVis a French-Ukrainian composer and pianist of Russian descent, born in 1982. He began his musical studies in the Tourchak Art-school in Kyiv, (Київська дитяча школа мистецтв ім. Стефана Турчака) with Svitlana Dembovs'ka (Світлана Дембовська) as piano teacher. Later he entered the Glier Kyiv institute of music, (Київський інститут музики ім. Р. М. Глієра) and studied piano with Elena Verikivs'ka (Єлена Веріківська). Arriving in France at the age of 15, he works with Adam Wibrowski. He obtains the diploma of musical studies at the conservatory of Boulogne – Billancourt in 2001. Later, he continued to work with Livia Rev and Setrak.
After completing his orchestration studies in Guillaume Connesson's class at the conservatory of Aubervilliers – La Courneuve, he devotes himself entirely to composition. He is the author of a large body of work, from orchestral and choral pieces, to chamber music and piano works. His music is not attached to any of the current aesthetic movements. It appeals to a growing public and is being performed in major cities and concert halls around the world.
Although his repertoire encompasses most of the important works from Liszt and Scriabin, having studied percussion, he develops his own pianistic technique and his main focus is directed towards the music of Ukrainian or Russian composers, such as Mykola Kolessa, Valentin Silvestrov or Alexandre Mossolov. He presented for the CANTUS FORMUS (concert serie organized by Nicolas Bacri in Paris) the totality of the piano work of Borys Lyatoshynsky. He is the founder and artistic director of the COMPETITION-FESTIVAL – modern piano repertoire (Paris). In parallel, he also created and directs the CD collection PIANO MODERN RECITAL© He is also in charge of planning concerts for the "NUIT BLANCHE" (Paris).
